Natalia Alvarez, LCSW-C

I’m a licensed clinical social worker serving clients across Maryland by providing in-person and virtual therapy. I specialize in treating eating disorders and helping individuals heal their relationship with food, movement, and body image, while also addressing co-occurring emotional disorders and challenges, such as anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma/PTSD, and complex relationship dynamics. After earning my Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, I fine-tuned my clinical specialities by working as a clinical team leader and a primary therapist in various inpatient and outpatient eating disorder settings.

As a native Spanish-speaking Cuban-American, I bring a culturally responsive, inclusive lens to my work. I am deeply committed to providing affirming, identity-conscious care for clients from diverse backgrounds. My therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in trust. Rooted in a trauma-informed, person-centered framework, I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches — including DBT, CBT, relational-cultural therapy, mindfulness practices, child-centered play therapy, art therapy, and exposure-based therapy — all infused with warmth, curiosity, and a gentle dose of humor.

I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and general caregiver guidance to those supporting loved ones as they navigate the recovery process or their child’s broader emotional development. I tailor treatment to each client’s unique background, values, and goals, always honoring the intersectionality of their identity and experiences.
